May Is Always a Poem
Qu Yuan, a poet of moans and groans
Last night your lanky and emaciated spirit
Pours a gourd of bright moon
To enkindle my dreamland
Qu Yuan, a poet of moans and groans
My spirit of dream meets you by the Miluo River?
And you are listening to the weeping and sobbing of the Miluo River
Which have been unquiet since time of yore
Qu Yuan, a poet of moans and groans
With the truth of an ideal
You roam the clouds and four corners of the earth, against rapids
In search of the dreamland you are after
Qu Yuan, a poet of moans and groans
You are strolling beyond the waves
Extricated from the chains of time
You are soaring freely
Qu Yuan, a poet of moans and groans
You have sought high and low for two thousand two hundred and sixty years
Truth vanishes from mortal tossing and thrashing
The ideal crystal that defies congealment
Lonely tears are sprinkled by the side of the Miluo River
The Miluo River is a river in which Qu Yuan drowned himself when his ideals are disillusioned. (Note by the translator)
