【Introduction of the Characters】
Monica: If you do not know Monica, you most probably will not know who Ross is. If you do not know Monica, you will not have this chance to meet the Run-Away-Bride: Rachel. If you do not know Monica, it is almost impossible for you to get to know Phoebe, Joey, and Chandler. Indeed, Monica is the central character of this story. She is Ross' younger sister, Rachel's classmate in high school, and Phoebe's ex-housemate. Besides, she lives across the hallway from Joey and Chandler.
Phoebe: Who used to share the same apartment with Monica, but since she can hardly bear Monica's cleanliness, she moved out.
Ross: 26 year's old. Monica's elder brother. Monica and Rachel's schoolmate in Lincoln High School, though in the different grade.
Chandler: Who is Ross's roommate in university, is now sharing the same apartment with Joey.
Joey: The soap actor. Sharing the same apartment with Chandler, living right across the hall to Monica's.
Rachel: Monica's high school classmate and good friend, who moves in with Monica After she leaves her Mr. Potato Head-look-alike fiancé Barry at the altar. She discovers that independence sucks when you don't have Daddy's credit cards to rely on.
【人物介绍】
莫妮卡：如果你不认识莫妮卡，你可能就不会认识罗斯。如果你不认识莫妮卡，你也就没有机会结识故事中的逃跑新娘——可爱的瑞秋。如果你不认识莫妮卡，又怎么可能和菲比、乔伊还有钱德勒成为好朋友呢？的确如此，莫妮卡是《老友记》这个故事的核心人物。她是罗斯的妹妹，瑞秋的高中同班同学，菲比的前室友，和乔伊、钱德勒是住在同一幢大楼里门对门的邻居。
菲比：曾几何时和莫妮卡同住一套公寓，但因无法忍受莫妮卡的洁癖，最终决定搬出公寓。
罗斯：26岁，莫妮卡的老哥。和莫妮卡、瑞秋同在林肯高中上学，是两个姑娘高一年级的师哥。
钱德勒：和罗斯在大学住同一个宿舍，目前和乔伊是室友。
乔伊：蹩脚的肥皂剧演员（时常饰演匪兵甲、匪兵乙的角色）。目前和钱德勒是室友，住在莫妮卡的对门。
瑞秋：莫妮卡的高中同班同学兼好朋友。在婚礼当日弃未婚夫而逃后投奔了好友莫妮卡。从小娇纵的她独自生活恍然发现，没有父亲信用卡支持的现实生活，竟然如此糟糕残酷……
Pilot1: The One2 Where It All Began
试播第一集：故事开始的地方
一个明媚的午后，阳光暖暖地照在人们的身上，有种说不出的惬意。这里是曼哈顿闹市区的一个普通的街道，在街道拐角处，你会看到一个小小的咖啡店，花团锦簇的标牌上面醒目地刻着“Central Perk”的字样。墨绿色的底，加上被染成淡淡鹅黄的字，望上去有种难得的气定神闲。隔着窗子望进去，店里的生意似乎不错，有人正挤在柔软的大沙发上促膝谈心，时不时地发出阵阵笑声；有人正独坐在吧台前凝神思考；还有人正漫无目的地看着外面的景致，任思绪飘游。就在这个小小的时空里，我们将要见证这一个个人间喜剧……
【原声重现】
[Scene 1: Central Perk 3, Chandler, Joey, Phoebe and Monica are talking to each other.]
Monica: There's nothing to tell! He's just some guy I work with!
Joey: Come on, you're going out with the guy! There's gotta be something wrong with him!
Chandler: So does he have a hump 4? A hump and a hairpiece?
Phoebe: Wait, does he eat chalk? (They all stare, bemused.) Just, 'cause, I don't want her to go through what I went through with Carl- oh!
Monica: Okay, everybody relax. This is not even a date. It's just two people going out to dinner and- not having sex.
Chandler: Sounds like a date to me 5.
【实时解读】
[第一幕：咖啡馆内，钱德勒、乔伊、菲比和莫妮卡正在聊天。]
听到莫妮卡和一神秘男子约会，朋友们的回应颇具戏剧性。乔伊是个蹩脚的肥皂剧演员（soap actor），虽然平日里他不乏美女陪伴，可是身边真正谈得来的却寥寥无几。如今听到莫妮卡都出去约会了，乔伊不由心生酸楚：“跟你约会的这个家伙一定是有什么问题，或是脑子进水了”，大有“吃不着葡萄说葡萄是酸的”之嫌疑。一向口无遮拦的钱德勒这时候怎可能放过一逞口舌之利的机会，一看他一脸无辜的表情就知道“暗藏杀机”：“那人到底得有多奇特，才有勇气做你的男朋友啊！他驼背吗？还是既驼背又戴假发啊？”轮到生性古怪的菲比发言了，她睁大双眼，一贯夸张的表情，狡黠地眨了眨眼，一语惊人:“他吃粉笔吗？”看到众人一脸的吃惊相，菲比还不紧不慢地解释：她只是希望莫妮卡不要重演自己昔日的悲剧而已。显然，菲比的前任男友也是和她有一拼的“天下奇人”。偏偏不巧，他舔食粉笔的奇怪嗜好，大大地超出了菲比的心理底线，二人的爱情故事最终以分手告终。
