美军士兵手册

　　平日里，经常和朋友们聊起东西方文化差异的话题，大家都认为这是英语学习者颇为关注的一个学习点。比如，黄继光、邱少云的英雄故事是我们从小就耳熟能详的，而西方教育却在某种程度上“削弱”了“英雄主义”的定义，强调“Don't try to be brave”(“不要逞英雄”)， 在西方人眼中，一个人的生命是最为宝贵的，在危难之时，你首先要进行自救，在保全自己的情况下，再竭尽所能去拯救其他人的性命。通过这个简单的例子，我们可以看到在两种教育背景下所产生的不同认知。的确，只有掌握这些异同的文化知识，我们才能更好地驾驭不同的语言。好了，现在让我们言归正传，浏览一下美军士兵手册的条文条款，体会一下士兵手册中的东西方文化差异吧。

　　1. You are not a superman.
　　2. If it's stupid but works，it isn't stupid.

　　19. Radio's will fail as soon as you need fire support desperately.

　　22. The only thing more accurate than incoming enemy fire is incoming friendly fire.
