I feel that this award was not made to me as a man, but to my work life work in the agony and sweat of the human spirit, not for glory and least of all for profit, but to create out of the materials of the human spirit something which did not exist before. So this award is only mine in trust. It will not be difficult to find a dedication for the money part of it commensurate with the purpose and significance of its origin. But I would like to do the same with the acclaim too, by using this moment as a pinnacle from which I might be listened to by the young men and women already dedicated to the same anguish and travail, among whom is already what one who will some day stand where I am standing.

我感觉到这个奖不是授给我个人的，而是对我工作的奖励，因为我一生都在凭着一种人的精神在痛苦和汗水中工作着。我工作不为名，更不为利，而是为了从人类精神中创造出一些以前所不存在的东西。所以，这份奖只是对我的信任而已。就诺贝尔奖本身的目的和意义来讲，我们不难发现人们也是为了与这目的和意义等值的金钱而献身。但是，我也同样公开申明自己的观点。我要把此刻当作我一生的一个顶峰，我站在那里，可以让那些已献身于同样的痛苦与劳作的青年男女听我讲述自己的观点，这些年轻人中某个人有一天也会来到我现在站的地方领奖。
